On February 1st Dance Republic 2 brought over 400 young people from Primary schools across Cornwall to perform in the Cornwall Dance Partnership’s fourth annual Primary Dance Platform at the Hall for Cornwall.
This year the young people were celebrating their favourite children’s books and authors, from How to Train Your Dragon to the Jungle Book with stops on beaches, with wild things, in vegetable gardens and on lost islands, in between.
The performance showed the children’s ingenuity, skills and talent, many of them never having set foot on a professional stage before.
‘The best things about taking part were the great organization (..) children’s excitement and enjoyment of the performance, opportunity to perform in such a great venue’ St Breock Primary School
‘At Dance Republic 2 and the Cornwall Dance Partnership we feel passionately about dance and our mission is to open opportunities to perform in high quality dance for young people in Cornwall. Whether that’s at the Hall for Cornwall, in beautiful Cornish garden of on a beach as part of SALT our Landscape Dance festival’ Christina Cross – DR2
All of the schools taking part expressed what a fantastic event it was and there was not an empty seat in the house
